Bodywork & Functional Movement Support
Whole-Body Support for Pregnancy, Postpartum, and Everyday Life
At Kingdom Beginnings, we believe that the body works best when it is supported, balanced, and functioning well as a whole.
Bodywork sessions provided by a Certified Body Ready Method® Pro focus on improving comfort, mobility, and body awareness through gentle, intentional techniques that help the body move and function more effectively.
While many people seek this support during pregnancy and postpartum, these sessions are available to anyone looking to improve how their body feels and moves.
Bodywork sessions are available for clients throughout the Twin Cities metro and Central Minnesota, including surrounding communities.
What Is Body Ready Method?
Body Ready Method® is an approach that focuses on supporting the body’s natural ability to move well and function efficiently by encouraging balance, stability, and mobility throughout the whole body.
Our bodies are incredibly intelligent. When faced with stress, injury, growth, or the changes that come with pregnancy and postpartum, the body often creates compensation patterns to protect and support itself. These patterns are not failures; they are evidence of the body’s remarkable ability to adapt and care for itself.
Over time, however, these adaptations can sometimes lead to areas of tension, imbalance, or discomfort. Bodywork and functional movement support help bring awareness back to how the body is moving and create opportunities for greater balance and ease.
Sessions may include:
• Functional movement assessment
• Gentle hands-on bodywork techniques
• Mobility and stability support
• Breathing and alignment guidance
• Simple movements or exercises you can continue at home
The goal is not to “fix” the body, but to support the body in working the way it was designed to, allowing strength, mobility, and coordination to work together more comfortably.
This understanding of the body is especially meaningful during seasons of change such as pregnancy, birth, and postpartum. As the body grows, shifts, and adapts, thoughtful support can help create greater comfort, stability, and confidence in how the body moves and responds.
Is Bodywork Right for You?
Many people seek bodywork because something in their body simply doesn’t feel as comfortable or supported as it could.
You may benefit from a session if you notice things like:
• Persistent shoulder or upper back tension
• Feeling like your breathing is restricted or shallow
• Hip or pelvic discomfort
• Lower back tension
• Feeling “tight” or imbalanced in certain movements
• Postural strain from pregnancy, desk work, or caring for children
• Physical demands from active or labor-intensive jobs (such as construction, trades, healthcare, or other work that keeps you on your feet)
• Past injuries, accidents, or physical strain that may still influence how your body moves
• A background in sports, fitness, or physical training - past or present
• Noticing that certain areas of your body feel weaker, less stable, or less coordinated than others
• Pelvic floor challenges such as leaking, discomfort, or difficulty coordinating pelvic floor muscles
• Wanting to prepare your body for labor and birth
• Wanting to feel more stable and supported during postpartum recovery
Often, people are surprised how small adjustments in movement, breathing, and support can create meaningful improvements in comfort and body awareness.
You don’t need to wait until something feels severe to seek support. Many people schedule sessions simply because they want to move, breathe, and feel better in their body.
Bodywork sessions with a Certified Body Ready Method® Pro are not a substitute for medical care, but they can complement other forms of support by helping you better understand how your body moves, breathes, and coordinates.
Who Can Benefit From Bodywork?
Bodywork sessions can support people in many different seasons of life, including:
Pregnancy Support
Bodywork during pregnancy can help support comfort, balance, and efficient movement as the body adapts and grows.
Sessions may help support:
• Hip and pelvic comfort
• Lower back or sacral tension
• Round ligament discomfort
• Shoulder and upper back tension
• Breathing restrictions as the ribcage and diaphragm adapt during pregnancy
• Improving body awareness and balance as the body changes
• Preparing the body for labor and birth
Postpartum Recovery
After birth, the body continues adjusting as it heals and adapts to caring for a new baby.
Bodywork may help support:
• Core and pelvic recovery
• Rebuilding stability and mobility
• Postural changes from feeding, holding, bed sharing, or babywearing
• Shoulder, neck, and upper back tension from caring for an infant
• Restoring comfortable breathing and movement patterns
• General recovery and body awareness after birth
General Wellness
These sessions are also available for anyone who wants to support how their body moves and feels in everyday life.
People often seek bodywork to:
• Improve mobility and movement patterns
• Reduce everyday aches and tension
• Support strength and body awareness
• Improve breathing mechanics and posture
• Address areas of tension created by repetitive movement or daily stress
• Improve overall functional movement
You do not need to be pregnant or postpartum to benefit from this type of support.
Many people are surprised by how much more comfortable and balanced their body can feel with small, thoughtful adjustments in movement and support.
How This Is Different From Massage, Chiropractic, or Physical Therapy?
Bodywork sessions through the Body Ready Method® approach focus on how the entire body moves and functions together, rather than addressing one isolated area of discomfort.
Many types of bodywork focus on specific structures or areas of the body. For example:
• Massage therapy often focuses on relaxing muscles and relieving tension through soft tissue work.
• Physical therapy often focuses on rehabilitation and recovery following injury or surgery.
• Chiropractic care commonly focuses on spinal alignment and joint adjustments.
Body Ready Method® bodywork takes a slightly different approach by looking at how the body works as a whole system. Rather than focusing on a single area, sessions explore how mobility, stability, breathing, and movement patterns interact throughout the entire body.
The goal is not to replace medical care or other bodywork professions, but to support the body’s natural design so movement can feel more comfortable, coordinated, and efficient.
Many clients find that this approach complements other forms of care, such as chiropractic, physical therapy, or massage.
What to Expect During a Bodywork Session
Each session is designed around your body, your goals, and what you are experiencing.
Before your first appointment, you will complete a thorough intake form that helps us better understand your health history, movement patterns, daily demands on your body, and any areas of discomfort or concern. This allows each session to be approached thoughtfully and tailored specifically to you.
At the beginning of your session, we will briefly talk through how your body has been feeling, any areas of tension you’ve noticed, and what you hope to gain from the session. From there, we look at how your body is moving and supporting itself through a simple functional movement assessment.
Sessions may include a combination of:
• Gentle hands-on bodywork
• Functional movement guidance
• Breathing and alignment support
• Mobility and stability work
• Simple movements or exercises you can continue at home
Many people leave sessions with a greater awareness of how their body moves, along with practical tools that can help support comfort and balance in everyday life.
Sessions are always adapted to your season of life, whether you are pregnant, postpartum, or simply looking for support in how your body moves and feels.
Building a More Functional Core System
A key part of Body Ready Method® work is supporting the core system; the coordination between the diaphragm, abdominal muscles, pelvic floor, and deep stabilizing muscles of the body.
When these systems work together well, the body is often able to move, breathe, and stabilize more efficiently.
Bodywork sessions can help you:
• Develop greater awareness of how your core system functions
• Improve breathing mechanics and pressure management
• Support pelvic floor coordination
• Build strength and stability that supports everyday movement
For pregnant clients, developing a more functional core system can also help the body respond more efficiently during labor and birth and support recovery afterward.
These principles are not limited to pregnancy. A functional core system supports everything from lifting and physical work to athletics, posture, and everyday movement.

Bodywork and Doula Care
Some families choose to incorporate bodywork alongside their doula support. Because these sessions focus on movement, breathing, and physical comfort, they can complement birth preparation and postpartum recovery in meaningful ways.
Clients who book doula services with Kingdom Beginnings often choose to add bodywork sessions to help support their body throughout pregnancy and prepare for labor.
Two of our birth doula care packages also include bodywork sessions as part of the overall support offered during pregnancy.
However, bodywork sessions are available to anyone seeking support for how their body moves, adapts, and functions.
Some families appreciate the added value of combining both types of support, while others choose to schedule bodywork sessions independently.
