Hannah Ross
Birth Doula
Serving Central Minnesota
Hello! My name is Hannah Ross and I am so thrilled to be on my birth work journey with Kingdom Beginnings Birth Services.
Through my time as a doula so far, I have had the opportunity to attend a number of births in various settings. I have learned so much and can't wait to learn more. Every birth has proven to me that I am made for this work!
From long labors to fast and intense situations and healing after a traumatic birth, I have supported mothers with many birth plans and many different life situations in the process of their labor and birth.
I love to help moms find ways to cope with or without medication, bring comfort in my voice and touch, and help maintain an environment for my clients that reflects the birth space they need and desire.
My favorite physical techniques to apply are massage and counter pressure.
I am also a huge fan of prayer and positive affirmations in labor.
What drew me to birth work was a passion and interest in the way our bodies are designed by God to do such wonderful work.
When I was sixteen I knew I wanted to have a family if I was ever blessed with babies of my own, but I also knew that my life experiences would not lend well to a hospital birth.
I began researching other birth options. After watching tons of videos and reading many articles on the work of midwives, I also discovered the important role of doulas.
Seeing a person so in tune with a birthing mother to be able to be relied on while supporting them during a vulnerable time seemed like such a precious and valuable job.
I contemplated going into the work at that time, but ultimately didn't pursue the education.
It may have taken me twelve years, but I have finally answered the calling that has been ringing in my head since that time.
The first birth I supported was the first birth I had been to besides my own. From that moment, my whole life changed.
I realized as I supported an amazing mother that this work is what I have always been called to do.
Watching the change in someone's birthing confidence through doula support was the most incredible experience I've been honored to be a part of (with the exception of my own births).
I hope that I get to help women all over experience that confidence and peace for years to come.
I walked the long path to get to where I am, but I believe those experiences shaped the beauty I see in birth so fully.
I began a career as an educator after realizing my love for teaching.
Thanks to my first born and incredible husband, I was able to leave the field to pursue being a stay at home mom.
Over the years of raising my three boys, I've been able to put those teaching skills to great use, but I still knew I wasn't done helping to educate.
The prenatal education portion of this work has been hugely shaped by this aspect of my life and I love finding new creative ways to connect to clients through learning about our bodies and birth.
Keeping myself busy is a passion of mine, so along with raising our three boys, my husband and I have a little hobby farm in Foley, MN where we plan to live the rest of our lives as long as God wills it.
So far we have been blessed to have nearly 40 chickens, ducks, two horses, and a slew of barn cats.
Besides our three (huge) dogs, my husband hopes to get goats one day. I am not sold yet, but if I can have cows and a pig, I don't mind having goats too!
I also love gardening on our property and recently created a rosary garden that allows me to be able to walk a life-sized rosary. Despite most of my vegetables and flowers not growing very well, I love to plan and tend the gardens we've developed.
Aside from farm life and birth work, I attend to many hobbies and interests.
I am a casual knitter and love making baby booties when I have the time.
I also have been an aspiring author since eighth grade.
I have written and self-published books from dystopian to middle grades romance to young adult spy fiction.
My most recent work is a set of fantasy novels that have developed into a bigger universe than I planned!
I have loved becoming a bit of a fantasy nerd over the past couple years.
From playing DND with friends and diving into trying to find good Christian Fantasy, I have loved the whimsy I can embrace every single day!
My favorite part of writing is being able to create moral characters that people can connect with and learn from.
As a Catholic Christian, I have been blessed with a wonderful church community in the St. Cloud Diocese, specifically within the Latin Mass Community.
The tradition of the mass has formed my faith and life as I have grown over the years.
I have also been blessed with so many experiences in life from traveling to visit Hawaii to living a few months in Corpus Christi, Texas.
My greatest blessing has been my family.
Despite me fighting it, God knew I needed my wonderful husband to grow with and learn so much from.
I am forever thankful that we will be celebrating seven years of marriage this summer.
Of course, my family wouldn't be complete without my children. We have Gabriel (5), Azariah (3), Finnian (1), Evangeline (forever a baby in heaven), and another baby due in August of 2026.
I have so many interests and passions that I can't wait to share with you as we embark on your pregnancy and birth journey together.
There is no greater honor in this world to me than being a part of an experience that brings one more of God's precious children into this world.
I hope we can connect and learn from each other in this journey!
